Your PC gaming weekend: win a classic adventure game, free Overwatch, Guild Wars 2 expansion, and more!

Your PC gaming weekend

It’s Friday and we’re all having a good laugh here in the office. Spirits are high! There’s good reason for it, too: this weekend you can play Overwatch for free, you can also check out one of the best racing games ever, and Guild Wars 2 has a new expansion. There’s more where that came from, too, so check out list of recommended PC gaming to do over the weekend below.

Win a copy of classic adventure game The Journey Down – we have 50 Steam keys!

If you haven’t heard of The Journey Down then you’re missing out. It’s a three-part adventure game that follows Bwana and Kito on their unexpected journey to find out what happened to their father. The third and final part of the game is now out and to celebrate we’re giving away the first part so you can get started.

If you don’t own it, you can play Overwatch for free this whole weekend

Surely everyone and their dog has played Overwatch by now. No? You haven’t picked up one of the best online shooters of recent years – well then, you’re in for a treat. This weekend you can play Overwatch for free. We recommend it.

Play Project Cars 2, one of the best racing games of all time

We don’t say this lightly: Project Cars 2 is one of the best racing games ever made. Bold statement, yes, and one we’re sticking by. That’s our impressions of the game after spending hours with it for our review. Now it’s out for you to give it a spin yourself.

Rock out with spacemen in heavy armour in Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf

If you like to hang out with the boys, strapped up to the nines in gear made of the heaviest metal, only able to waddle for all the steel hanging from your body, then Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf might be the game for you. Give it a go and find out, especially if you’re a die-hard for turn-based strategy games.

Grab the Forza Motorsport 7 demo and tear around the asphalt

If, instead of taking our recommendation of Project Cars 2, you’ve decided that you’re too much of a Forza fan then you’re being treated as well this week. You can shun Project Cars 2 and hop into the Forza Motorsport 7. Either way, racing game fans are being spoiled right now.

Blast people to bits in Ubisoft’s new online first-person shooter Atomega

If you’re on the lookout for a brand new game to play but driving fast, expensive cars isn’t your thing, perhaps Atomega will hit the spot. It’s a new online first-person shooter from the team that made Grow Home. The idea is to collect mass to grow your body, transforming into new creatures with different abilities, but losing the advantage of hiding in smaller nooks and crannies as you get bigger.

Watch 22 minutes of Half-Life 2 speedrunning history

Speedrunning is one of the most entertaining aspects of videogames. Watching someone practise and hopefully break a previous world record provides you with two things: seeing a game ripped to shreds, and one of a game’s best players flaunt their skills. A new video has all of that as it goes over the speedrunning history of Half-Life 2.

Jump into Path of Fire, the latest expansion for Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire is now available. In it, you’ll get to tussle withBalthazar, the rogue god of war, who’s decided that he wants to acquire all the power of the elder dragons. What a madman. Expect a desert environment and new mounts along with the dragon-eater himself.

Comic book fans should definitely give Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite a go

Your other option if you’re hunting for something new to play is Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. If you’re a comic book fan who knows they’re not great at fighting games then don’t worry, this is the game for you. We have more details on why in the link above.
