Legends of Runeterra patch 0.8.3 notes – New Guardians and bug fixes

Legends of Runeterra patch 0.8.3 brings various minor changes and three adorable new Guardians

Now the Legends of Runeterra release date has arrived and the very first LoR open beta patch has gone live, it’s time for another round of tweaks and changes to one of the best card games on the block. The Legends of Runeterra patch 0.8.3 notes are here – and they bring some brand new Guardians to the game.

The changes introduced in the first patch for Legends of Runeterra in its live state aren’t major or extensive, but the highlight is three new in-game Guardians to purchase – of the winged, swimming, and horned, snarling green variety. They’re adorable and you can get a good look at them below.

There are also various bug fixes, some miscellaneous adjustments and changes, and an update on where developer Riot Games is at with regard to the game’s XP systems. There are no changes to come this time, but the studio says it’s “keeping an eye on how y’all are engaging with the XP changes introduced with open beta.”

Riot explains: “One of our main goals for progression is to encourage play through rewards without forcing chore-like behaviours. We want you to have efficient ways to progress, we just also want those experiences to be fun. For example, we don’t want players to feel like they need to grind AI games or snap concede matches to maximise their progression.”

So that means no changes to XP systems this patch, but the studio is already looking at possible future adjustments.

Without further ado, let’s get a look at the (minor) updates to Legends of Runeterra with patch 0.8.3.

That’s all we’ve got for the Legends of Runeterra patch 0.8.3 notes for now. Riot explains patches will arrive every other Tuesday – so, every two weeks – similarly to the League of Legends 2020 patch schedule for its sister MOBA game. The studio hints LoR patch 0.9 will be “a large one” so be sure to check back in a fortnight to see what’s in store in the way of balance and “major card” updates.

If you’re looking to get into the game now the open beta’s, well, open, get a look at our guides on Legends of Runeterra cards, Legends of Runeterra decksLegends of Runeterra Regions, and even how to play Legends of Runeterra, which you might find handy.

If you’re a fan of League of Legends, check out the LoL patch 10.3 notes ahead of the update’s arrival in-game on February 5. There are some Heartseeker skins, lots of Champion balance changes, and perhaps even that Wukong rework to look forward to this time around.
